Wednesday Dinner
Enjoy a casual, family-friendly meal with the HTLC Community before classes start! Everyone is welcome at the table as we chat and ease into Lift and class time!
Students younger than 6th grade should attend with a parent or favorite adult.
Students 6th grade and older are welcome to arrive starting at 4:00 to help prep for dinner!
Lift Musical Opening
At 5:45, you will be directed to the Sanctuary for Wednesday Night Lift. Here, your K-8th children will be officially checked in and under the supervision of the staff, but you are more than welcome to stick around and participate in this brief 15-minute worship. We will sing fun songs together, say a prayer, and then be sent off to class!
Little Lights
Do you have a child younger than Kindergarten? We want to make sure parents have the opportunity to connect with other adults on Wednesday nights without having to keep their heads on a swivel. Noah’s Ark - in faithful partnership with HTLC - is offering childcare for any child younger than kindergarten age, downstairs in the Hippo Room, provided by certified Noah’s Ark Teachers. This space allows children who are pre-K and younger to be welcomed in the name of Jesus Christ, where they can be who God has made them to be - to let their light shine for the whole community! Little Lights allows kids in this age group to have developmentally appropriate play during programming for older age groups and parents. Although this is a drop-off option, parents are required to stay at HTLC. Childcare is offered from 6:00-7:15; however, if it gets late and affects bedtime, you are welcome to pick them up earlier.
Echo
5:00-5:45 - LFC - Dinner
5:45-6:00 - LIFT Sanctuary
6:00-7:15 - Class
ECHO is the programming for K-2nd grade at HTLC. ECHO stands for Embracing Christ’s Hope Outpoured. This is the first opportunity outside of worship at HTLC for young people to programmatically encounter Scripture and the love of God through Jesus Christ. Grounded in the Shema or Deuteronomy 6:4-7, the focus for this program will be to invite them into the Christian story, helping them to know God’s love by hearing and reciting the biblical narrative. They will engage with God’s Word through stories, music, art, and play.
Bible Explorers
5:00-5:45 - LFC - Dinner
5:45-6:00 - LIFT Sanctuary
6:00-7:15 - Class
FIRST COMMUNION WORKSHOPS
Date & Time TBD
WEDNESDAYS Bible Explorers is the programming for 3rd-5th grade at HTLC. Bible Explorers are encouraged to discover, read, and think about Scripture in new ways. They will start to ask questions such as “What does this mean?” and “Why does this matter to me?”. 3rd-5th graders will understand the law and promises of Jesus Christ in every part of scripture.
Like an explorer needs a compass, good gear, and a willingness to learn, we are equipping this age group with the tools to critically engage with Scripture and establish a life-giving relationship with Jesus Christ, knowing they can always turn to God in Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit.
FIRST COMMUNION WORKSHOPS We will hold First Communion Workshops generally in the spring. Watch for details!
Confirmation
5:00-5:45 - LFC - Dinner
5:45-6:00 - LIFT Sanctuary
6:00-7:15 - Class
Confirmation is the programming for 6th-8th grade. Grounded in God’s grace, the middle schoolers at HTLC will seek to engage with faith, scripture, and theology in deeper ways than ever before. The main way we will accomplish that is in the classroom, engaging a curriculum covering the Bible (Old and New Testament), Lutheran Living, History, and Catechism. In class, students will be nurtured, challenged, and given a Christ-centered community where they can safely ask big questions about God and discover who they are.
As students learn to articulate their trust in the Triune God who created them, the Confirmation curriculum will also have a strong emphasis on the perennial task of living out their faith in response to God’s saving action. Confirmands will be empowered to help with worship, assist with food ministry (food distributions and dinner on Wednesdays), and attend confirmation camp. This will culminate in a Capstone service project, where rising 9th graders will plan a project to serve their congregation or community based on their spiritual gifts.
