Stephen Ministry
HTLC STEPHEN MINISTERS
“Come to me, all you that are weary and
are carrying heavy burdens, and I will
give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
Currently, Holy Trinity has nine Stephen Ministers
actively in the field providing distinctively Christian care
and support to individuals with deep spiritual, social and
emotional needs. They provide one-to-one care for those
people who are experiencing grief, illness, divorce, or
other stresses in their lives. These Stephen Ministers
continue to be a blessing to their care receivers as they
spend their valuable time, usually at least an hour each
week, with their care receivers. In addition, they attend
twice-monthly supervision and continuing education
sessions that run two and a half hours each. Stephen
Leaders spend whatever time is necessary to train,
supervise and counsel Stephen Ministers and to handle
the administrative and organizational details of the
Stephen Ministry program.
Our exciting news now is that we have six individuals
who have committed themselves to 50 hours of Stephen
Ministry training classes to begin this fall on Thursday,
September 4, at 6:30 PM.
There is still time for you to enroll in our fall classes if
your feel a call to this valuable ministry. You can contact
Pastor Flater or me through the church office to come for
an interview to learn more about this program. Take time
to speak with one of our current Stephen Ministers to
discover how they feel about their experience and
spiritual growth through this ministry.
Our entire congregation benefits from this lay ministry as
we continue to understand the importance of growing in
care and support for one another as Christ has called us to
do in this place. This ministry helps our care receivers
experience a closer involvement with our congregation
and with God. We pray that our congregation will
continue an enduring commitment to this caring ministry.
I ask that you keep our current Stephen Ministers and
their care receivers in your prayers as they continue their
caring relationships in Christ’s name, and to pray as well
for our new class of trainees as they embark on this life
changing adventure.
